Prices for meat, bread, milk and vegetables: what to expect for Ukrainians

Forecast regarding meat

“The meat category is the most sensitive. Because it was affected by price increases for all types of products – chicken, pork, and especially lard. The increase in prices since the beginning of the year was about 50 percent and will continue to grow. For example, average prices for lard over the last month increased by 15 percent. And in general, meat prices rose by an average of about seven percent compared to the previous month,” Inna Meteleva, head of the non-governmental organization “Agropolitical Dialogue “Agrarian Council”, told UNIAN.

Prices for bread

According to her, the prices of bakery products are increasing, in particular, the price of bread is increasing by approximately 10 percent every month.

“Regarding bakery products, bread, flour, enough grains have been collected this year, there are transitional residues, so the increase in prices for these products is also related to the cost of energy carriers and fuel, and not to a lack of raw materials,” Meteleva noted.

Will the price of milk rise

As experts of the analytical platform Infagro reported, producers of fresh dairy products plan to increase the cost of their products.

“Despite the decrease in the rate of sales growth, manufacturers intend to continue raising the prices of their products, explaining this by the increase in the cost of raw materials. However, there should not be a significant price increase,” they noted.

“During the period cold cows give less milk, which will also be reflected in the market. At the same time, there are expensive parts that are borne by dairy farms. Mostly all the components that are manufactured and used during the process are imported components that you buy for dollars. Therefore, in the autumn period. milk can add 10 percent to the price, and in the winter – 20-25 percent,” said Deputy Chairman of the All-Ukrainian Agrarian Council (UAR) Denis Marchuk.

Forecast regarding vegetables

Regarding vegetables , the cost of storing these products will increase taking into account energy prices, so this will affect the cost of products. The impact of rising fuel prices and, accordingly, logistics will also be felt.
