Nigeria is ready to replace Russia in oil supplies, but does not mind trading with Russia in rubles

The Nigerian ambassador said the country was not interested in rising oil prices.

Нигерия готова заменить Россию в поставках нефти, но не против торговать с РФ в рублях

Nigeria is ready to replace Russian oil on the market within its quota for the OPEC + deal, if such a request arises. As Nigeria is not interested in rising prices for “black gold”, it is doing everything possible to maintain stability in the world oil market. This was stated by the Ambassador of Nigeria to Moscow Abdullah Shehu of the Russian media.

“Rising oil prices are a double-edged sword… No one wants the economy to suffer,” Abdullah Shehu said.

However, Nigeria is ready to consider trading with Russia in rubles.

“If Russia offers such an alternative to Nigeria, we will consider this possibility… Trade with Russia without the dollar and the euro will probably open up opportunities for Russia to strengthen its currency, and the ruble will become a freely convertible currency. We will wait and see… In any trade agreement, the advantage is always on the side of the seller. Who sells, sets the conditions. This is not barter, but for money. So it is normal that Russia sets the currency of payment. This is Russia's policy, and no one has the right to challenge it, “the ambassador said.
