More than 70% of Ukrainians have seen a decrease in income since the beginning of the full-scale war – survey

More than 60% suffer from deterioration of mental health.

The full-scale invasion of Russia significantly affected the economy of Ukraine and the incomes of its citizens. More than 70% of Ukrainians suffered financially in one way or another because of the war. About 33% lost their jobs. Such data is provided by the Kyiv International Institute of Sociology (KIIS) based on the results of a survey commissioned by NDI Ukraine.

The source informs that in August, more than 70% of surveyed Ukrainians declared that decrease in income during the war against Russia. In May, this indicator was at the level of 66%. In addition, the number of those who lost their jobs reached 33%(four months ago — 31%). Some material difficulties are noted by 40% of men and 35% of women, serious difficulties are noted by 34% of men and 26% of women.

The share of people who faced loss housing, increased from 6% to 9%, with the loss of other property – from 8% to 10%. It is interesting that, according to the KMIS survey, Ukrainians regularly face lack of sleep: 9% of respondents or their family members suffer from it constantly, 24% face it repeatedly, and 38% sometimes. About money, the indicators are as follows: 8%, 13% and 39%, respectively.

In addition to economic problems, Ukrainians also suffer from other troubles caused by the war. In particular, deterioration of mental health is felt by 64%, deterioration of physical health – 48%. 42% suffered due to separation from family.

Despite all the listed difficulties, more than 81% of respondents said that since the beginning of the full-scale invasion of Russia donated funds to the Armed Forces. 60% — money for humanitarian needs, 54% — provided shelter or helped IDPs, 37% — engaged in volunteering.
