The cult rock band Metallica was able to raise one million dollars, which will be used to help Ukraine. The fundraising campaign started on April 4, and managed to raise that amount in two months.

According to the group's website, the money will be donated to the World Central Kitchen (WCK), which provides food to people affected by natural disasters. For the past three months, the organization has been working in Ukraine, which is resisting Russia's full-scale invasion.

“It has been a little over three months since WCK started helping people displaced inside and outside Ukraine by distributing nutritious lunches and food kits to families across the region. We are grateful to the incredible Metallica family for supporting our efforts. Food and community are at the heart of our efforts, and our work is only possible with friends like Metallica. There is still a lot to do – the destruction is huge – but WCK will continue to appear for those who need us, “said Nate Muk, CEO.

The band thanked all its fans who joined the fundraiser. It also said that WCK has distributed more than 31 million lunches in 230 cities.

“While this information may not appear as often in the nightly news as in previous months, we cannot forget what is at stake, or deny that the need for it is still great. That is why we are proud that you have joined us to support starving refugees and redouble the impact we would have alone, ”Metallica said.

The director came to Ukraine with the World Central Kitchen project 25 films about Bond and the series “The Real Detective” by Carrie Fukunaga. He witnessed the shelling of a residential area in Kharkiv by Russian troops.
