The previous record was the sale of a Yankees baseball player T-shirt, Babe Ruth, for $ 5.64 million. The first goal was called “the hand of God” and the second – “the goal of the century”.

Maradona's past was owned by former England player Steve Hodge. It was he who exchanged T-shirts with the Argentine after the match.
