Lavrov announced Russia's readiness for negotiations with the West. The State Department called it “posturing”

Moscow hopes that missile terror against the civilian population will help to persuade Ukraine or the West to make concessions. However, it is time for the Kremlin to understand that the only “diplomats” who will cooperate with the Russian Federation in this matter are the Armed Forces, and their negotiating table is the battlefield.

Yesterday, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that the Russian Federation is ready to start negotiations with Western countries that will concern Ukraine. He seems surprised that Moscow has not yet received any serious proposals in this regard. The US State Department responded to the Russian minister, calling such statements “posturing.” The spokesman of the department, Ned Price, was forced to refresh the Russian memory and remind again that there will be no talks about Ukraine without Ukraine.

In addition, the USA emphasized that Lavrov made such a statement a few hours after another missile attack against Ukraine.

“Playgrounds and schools, apartment buildings, roads, bridges, heating infrastructure were affected. When you evaluate these comments, you have to take that context into account. And I think when you take that context into account, it tells you everything you need to know about Russia's posture and Russia's posturing. We see it as posturing,” Price said.

He noted thatfor the USA, Lavrov's words are not a constructive or legitimate proposal. Instead, they once again reminded about the support of Ukraine in this situation.

“We will support Ukraine when this negotiating table appears. Until that happens, our first priority is to provide Ukraine with the assistance it needs, and we will continue to do so,” he summarized.

We will remind you that Sergei Lavrov's statements are not the first hint of Russia's desire to enter into negotiations with Ukraine, which Kyiv categorically refuses. The head of the Federation Council Valentina Matviyenko, who suggested moving to dialogue “immediately”, and Russian President Vladimir Putin himself have already made similar appeals.. But after the annexation of the occupied territories of Ukraine, President Volodymyr Zelenskyi emphasized that negotiations with the Russian Federation can be forgotten as long as Putin is its president. Later, this position in our country was fixed at the legislative level.
