Latvia and Estonia close Russian consulates

The countries have decided on their response to the atrocities of the Russian occupiers in Ukraine.

Latvian Foreign Minister Edgars Rinkevics announced the decision close Russian consulates general and expel 13 diplomats . He wrote about this on his Facebook page.

“In light of the crimes committed by Russian troops in Ukraine, Latvia is severing diplomatic relations with the Russian Federation by closing its consulates general in Daugavpils and Liepaja and sending 13 diplomats and staff,” Rinkevics said.

The Estonian Foreign Ministry announced the same decision. It was decided to close the consulate in the city of Tartu, as well as in the city of Narva, which borders Russia.
