International Swimming Federation suspends Russians and Belarusians from world championships and other tournaments

Athletes from aggressor countries will not be able to perform even in neutral status.

The International Swimming Federation (FINA) has suspended all Russian and Belarusian athletes from competitions under its auspices, the organization's press service said.

Thus, athletes and officials from Russia and Belarus will not attend tournaments even in neutral status. They will miss the 2022 World Aquatics Championships in Budapest.

Also, Russian Kazan is no longer the venue for the 2022 World Swimming Championships. Dates (December 17-22) remain the same, but the new venue will be changed.

FINA strongly condemns Russia's military invasion of Ukraine.
