In the USA, a robot has been developed to help patients with dementia

The first copy has already started working in one of the Minnesota institutions.

Scientists from the University of Minnesota have developed a robot that is designed for working with patients with Alzheimer's disease and dementia. He has already started working in a facility for the elderly in Minnesota, reports Axios.

It is noted that the robot is able to establish eye contact, recognize facial expressions and speech intonations. Its task is to entertain and “conduct cognitive therapy” for patients, as well as to notice changes in their daily routine.

“This is an important step towards improving the quality of life of the elderly and dementia patients by humanoid robots,” said Arshia Khan, the lead author of the study.

Previously, scientists from the University of Leicester and the University of Göttingen Medical Center announced that they succeeded in creating a vaccine against Alzheimer's disease. According to researchers, an antibody-based therapy and a protein-based vaccine they developed were able to reduce Alzheimer's disease in mice.
