Housing, infrastructure and business losses: analysis of Ukraine's war losses

According to KSE estimates, Ukraine's losses exceeded $127 billion.

Damage No. 1

It is noted that the housing stock was damaged in the largest amount — 39.7% or 50.5 billion dollars. Since the beginning of June, such losses have increased by 11.2 billion dollars.

In total, according to the latest data, 135,800 private and apartment buildings were damaged and destroyed. Over the summer, the number of damaged houses increased by 15,000. The total area of ​​damaged or destroyed objects is 74.1 million square meters, or 7.3% of the country's housing stock.

Damage No. 2

In the second place in terms of damage is the infrastructure sphere — 27.7% or 35.3 billion dollars, of which 26.6 billion dollars — as a result of direct destruction of roads and 4.3 billion dollars — railway losses.

Business asset losses are at least $9.9 billion and rising, the third largest item of infrastructure damage. In terms of industries, metallurgy was the most affected.

In total, since the beginning of the war, at least 412 enterprises have been damaged or destroyed, of which 64 are large and medium-sized enterprises. It is expected that this number may be higher, as there is currently no complete information on the state of Ukrainian enterprises located in the temporarily occupied territories.

Damage #4

The damage caused to the educational infrastructure of Ukraine is estimated at 6.95 billion dollars. This amount increased both due to the increase in the number of damaged and destroyed objects, and due to the expansion of the list of educational infrastructure objects.

As a result of hostilities, at least 810 educational infrastructure objects have already been destroyed and 1,639 have been damaged. The largest number of destroyed educational institutions was recorded in Donetsk, Kharkiv, Luhansk and Kyiv regions.

From February to September, the Russian occupiers damaged, destroyed or captured at least 616 administrative buildings, 978 medical facilities, of which 24 were private health care facilities, 1,270 schools, 786 kindergartens, 775 cultural facilities, 80 religious facilities, 149 tourism facilities, and 153 sports facilities. 2,910 trading points, 19 airports and civil airfields, 110 railway stations and stations, 315 bridges and bridge crossings of state, local or communal importance, 10 thermal power plants, 322 boiler houses.

It was reported that the situation is very critical for people whose housing was damaged, but to some extent it was suitable for living in the summer.
