The world's longest passenger route may appear in the world due to Hong Kong's intentions to fly away from Russian airspace. This was reported by Bloomberg.

“The world's longest passenger flight plans to avoid the Russian sky, which will be the world's longest commercial long-distance passenger flight,” the agency said.

According to Bloomberg, the Hong Kong airline Cathay Pacific plans to fly over Russian airspace on a flight from Hong Kong to New York. The length of the route will be 16,618 kilometers, the journey will take about 17 hours.

The airline plans to fly from John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York, across the Atlantic Ocean, Great Britain, Southern Europe and Central Asia.

This flight will surpass the longest route from Singapore to John F. Kennedy Airport.

“Many Asian airlines are paving routes to bypass Russian airspace,” the statement said.

It will be recalled that after the sanctions of the world community against the Russian aviation industry, adopted after the Russian invasion of Ukraine, the Russian Federation itself strengthened its isolation – closed the skies to aircraft from 36 countries.

At the same time, Hong Kong is not on the list of those to whom Russia has closed the skies. Consequently, the state voluntarily decided to fly around Russia.
