Germany ready to help landlocked EU countries with access to LNG – Scholz

According to Fiala, imports of Russian gas coming through the pipeline account for more than 90% of landlocked gas consumption in the Czech Republic.

” We must be ready to help countries that do not have direct access to the North or the Baltic Sea and must rely on our cooperation with them, “Scholz said, adding that details still need to be worked out.

Earlier on Thursday, Germany took steps to increase LNG imports by renting four floating storage and regasification facilities and choosing the North Sea port of Wilhelmshaven as the first transshipment hub.

Separately, Germany has begun filling a huge Reden gas storage facility abandoned by Russia's Gazprom.

That sooner or later the EU will have to take measures against imports of gas and oil from Russia , previously stated by the President of the European Council Charles Michel.
