Frozen property and entry ban – Latvia has imposed restrictions on Russians

Almost 50 real estate objects of Russian citizens are under arrest.

Following other Allies, Latvia is imposing personal sanctions against Russian citizens who supported Russia's military aggression against Ukraine and blocked property belonging to Russian citizens. The decision of the government was announced by the Minister of Justice of Latvia Janis Bordans, writes Glavkom with reference to RBV.

The total amount of frozen Russian assets in Latvia is over 100 million euros. And this estimate does not yet include the 66 cars of those subject to sanctions. Their total value is estimated at several million euros. At the moment, only 49 real estate objects fall under personal restrictions.

“It is expected that the number of assets will continue to grow,” – said Bordans.

However, the Minister of Justice noted that Russian assets that are blocked in Latvian ports will be considered separately. This is primarily due to the fact that there may be dangerous goods.

In addition, Latvia has included in the list of “undesirable guests” 25 Russian cultural figures. Among them are director Mykita Mikhalkov, actors Mykhailo Boyarsky, Volodymyr Mashkov and Dmytro Pevtsov. announced the closure of Russian consulates in their countries.
