French director Jean-Luc Godard has died

The producer was 91 years old.

French director, screenwriter, actor and producer Jean -Luc Godard died in Paris at the age of 91, Liberation reports. The cause of the filmmaker's death has not been disclosed.

Godard made his debut as a director in 1954, his first film was the short film “Operation Concrete”. During his career, he directed more than a hundred films.

The director is one of the founders of the French “new waves”. This is a direction in cinematography that arose in the 1950s and 60s. The film “On the last breath”, the main role of which was played by Jean-Paul Belmondo, is called a kind of manifesto of this direction.

Among the most iconic works of Godard are also the films “Contempt”, “Alphaville”. , “Mad Pierrot” and “Weekend”, which were released in the 1960s. In addition, the director also shot the films “Save Who Can (Your Life)” and “The Name of Carmen”, “New Wave” and “History (and) Cinema”, “Praise of Love” and “Our Music”, “Farewell , language” and “The Book of the Image”.

Godard was awarded the “Cesar” award, and was also honored with awards at the Venice and Berlin film festivals.
