Food should not become Russia's weapon – Zelensky

Grain export from Ukraine should be permanent, the president stressed.

The first ship with Ukrainian grain< /strong> successfully passed through the grain corridor and reached the territorial waters of Turkey. However, Ukraine's goal is to make exports regular and safe, noted the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky during the evening address.

“Our goal now is to have regularity: that when one ship leaves the port , there should already be other ships – both those being loaded and those on the approach to the port. Continuity and regularity is a principle needed by all consumers of our agricultural products,” the president explained.

This will allow Ukrainian farmers to prepare for next year's sowing, ensure the country's food security and thwart the aggressor's plans to use food as a weapon. The Russian Federation is already doing the same with oil and gas, the president reminded.

“Russia creates a deficit, plays to raise prices, and when it provokes social unrest, it demands political concessions. It shouldn't work with food,” Zelensky urged.
