Finland is preparing to cut off gas supplies from Russia in the coming days

Russia plans to take revenge on its neighbor for possible NATO membership.

The Finnish government expects that Russia will stop supplying gas to the country in the coming days. Local MPs believe that Finland's intention to join NATO will be a pretext for “revenge” on the part of Russia.

According to Iltalehti, Finnish officials were prepared for countermeasures by the aggressor country, which has repeatedly threatened its neighbor over possible NATO membership. However, it was expected that the shutdown of Russian gas will take place on May 23 – the day when the Finnish side has to make another payment for fuel. As local authorities are not going to comply with the Kremlin's demand for payments for energy in rubles , Gazprom's decision seems obvious. But after the President and Prime Minister of Finland has officially announced its intention to join the Alliance , Russia's “revenge” may accelerate. This is the opinion of MPs Ville Tavio and Hjalis Harkimo.
