Europe is divided: Shmygal told how Europeans are preparing for a difficult winter and whether they still support Ukraine

Kremlin propaganda partly works on Europeans, but most of them are ready to suffer inconveniences for the defeat of Russia.

As a result of gas blackmail and Russia's war against Ukraine, Europe is facing the hardest winter in decades. Shutdown of the Nord Stream pipelineand the constant intimidation of the Kremlin led to the fact that the inhabitants of the continent were divided into two categories – those who are ready to endure inconvenience and support Ukraine to the victorious end; and those who worry too much about their own wallet and energy prices. Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal told about this on the air of a single news marathon.

According to the politician, Russian propaganda has an influence on part of Europeans who panic about the potential increase in gas prices and profess a purely consumerist approach to events in Ukraine and the world.

“Society in Europe today is divided into those who are ready to tolerate and deeply understand what Russian hybrid aggression, Russian military aggression means. There is, of course, a part of the population that today thinks completely in terms of consumerism – such people are very worried about their wallets and increased bills. But both Germany and Europe are ready to go through this difficult heating season,” said the Prime Minister.

He emphasized that now most European countries are working on finding alternative sources of gas, oil and coal and not depending on Russia. In addition, governments are actively urging the population to save on heating and electricity to reduce the cost of scarce fuel in winter.
