“Dnipro-1” lost to the Cypriots in their debut European Cup match

The Ukrainian club held a historic match.

On Thursday, August 18, “Dnipro-1” held a match against the Cypriot club AEK as part of the Europa League qualification playoffs.

The Ukrainian club lost to the guests with a score of 1:2. In the 16th minute, Omri Altman opened the score, and in the 29th minute, after a gross mistake by the Dnipro goalkeeper Max Valef, Svatok headed the ball into his own goal. At the end of the meeting, the same Svatok scored one goal – 1:2.

It should be noted that due to the full-scale invasion of Russia into Ukraine, the nominal home match for the Dnipros took place in Slovakia in the city of Kosice.

For Dnipro-1, which was founded in 2017, this was the debut in the European Cups.

The return match will be held in Larnaca on August 25. The winner will go to the group round of the Europa League, and the loser will go to the same stage, but to the Conference League.

Dnipro-1 took third place at the end of the season of the Ukrainian Premier League.
