Director of FBK Navalny stated that a new international mechanism is needed for the immediate confiscation of assets of Russian oligarchs and corrupt officials

According to Vladimir Ashurkov, perhaps because of the lack of such Ukraine has not yet received the arrested money of former Prime Minister Pavel Lazarenko.

Директор ФБК Навального заявил, что для оперативной конфискации активов российских олигархов и коррупционеров нужен новый международный механизм

Since 1997, the United States has been investigating the corrupt actions of former Prime Minister of Ukraine Pavel Lazarenko. But the money he was arrested has not yet arrived in Ukraine. Vladimir Ashurkov, director of Alexei Navalny's Anti-Corruption Foundation , told ZN.UA whether there is a transparent legal mechanism for detecting and seizing the assets of Russian oligarchs and, most importantly, for their prompt transfer to Ukraine. Inna Vedernikova talked to him.

“Confiscation of assets is a much more complex process than just arresting or freezing sanctions. If sanctions can be imposed without a court, then to seize assets or funds forever, a court procedure is required, when the defendant has the right to legal protection, and the level of evidence of crimes must be much higher. These processes take years. I do not know the details of Lazarenko's case, but I think that's what it is, “Ashurkov said.

According to him, unfortunately, this will also apply to the confiscation of assets of Russian oligarchs, unless a new mechanism is put in place.

Vladimir Ashurkov said that the issue of compensation to Ukraine for the damage caused during the full-scale war will certainly arise , but from what sources Russia will do it is still unclear.
