De Dzerbi officially left Shakhtar

The Italian coach left the Donetsk club.

Donetsk “Shakhtar” officially announced the termination of cooperation with head coach Roberto De Zerbi.

The contract was terminated by mutual consent of the parties.

Together with De Zerbi, the club left its entire coaching staff – Davide Possanzini, Vincenzo Teresa, Marcattillo Marcattiglio, Agostino Thibaudi, Michele Cavalli, Giorgio Bianchi, Paolo Bianco.

The Italian specialist has been given permission to look for a new club after Russia launched a full-scale invasion of Ukraine. It is expected that the new coach of “Shakhtar” will be the Croatian coach of “Dnipro-1” Ihor Jovičević.

Roberto De Zerbi led the “miners” in the summer of 2021, when he left “Sassuolo”. Under his leadership, “Shakhtar” won the Super Cup of Ukraine and twice qualified for the group stage of the Champions League.

Under the leadership of the Italian coach, “Shakhtar” played 30 matches, in which they won 20 matches with 5 draws and 5 defeats with a total score of 64:26.

Earlier it was reported that “Shakhtar” will demand from FIFA to compensate financial costs due to the war.
