The Chinese government is seriously afraid of US economic restrictions. Local authorities held an emergency meeting with local and foreign banks to discuss mechanisms to protect assets from possible sanctions.

According to the Financial Times, Chinese regulators are looking for ways to protect their own economy from sanctions similar to those imposed by the US and the EU on Russia. The internal meeting, which took place on April 22, was attended by representatives of the Central Bank and the Ministry of Finance of China, as well as heads of local and international banks. Its details are currently unknown.
