Babylon13 made a mini-film about a man who exhumes the dead in Irpen

“They ask me: “How do you endure all this?” That's how it is… – he answers awkwardly. – Others don't really want to do this… And the dead must be buried in a humane way.”

The Babylon13 film association, which shoots documentary shorts and full-length films, dedicated its latest mini-film to a man from Irpen, who is engaged in exhumation. The people whose remains Mr. Volodymyr digs up in order to provide them with a dignified burial did not survive the Russian occupation under which Kyiv region fell at the beginning of spring. The video entitled “The one who reburys” appeared on the social networks of filmmakers.

“For two months, I have been doing volunteer work – exhumation. We dig up dead bodies that have been buried in yards. On the territory of the kindergarten, on the territory of the school… People return from evacuation and simply find graves in their yard. Then they call the police.. And we start our work. It is necessary to bury in a humane way”, – says the hero of the film.

In the description of the video, Babylon13 details what prompted him to take up the difficult job:

“Vladimir is a builder from Irpen. His life changed with the projectile that flew into his house and did not explode. In this event, the man saw a sign and decided to use his “second chance” to help the community. That's how he became an exhumer – a person who reburys those who died as a result of the occupation of Kyiv region by Russian troops and provides them with a dignified farewell.” ?” That's how it is… – he answers awkwardly. – People don't really want to do this… And the dead should be buried in a humane way”.

Caution, the video contains scenes that may shock.

Some of the victims, primarily men, had their hands and feet tied. Apparently, they tried to immobilize them before the shot, to reduce resistance, they also tied their eyes:

“They were excavating between Gorenka and Moschun, in the forest. Man. He was tortured… – shares Volodymyr. – Hands and feet were tied. And blindfolded. He was shot in the back of the head. There was a destruction of the skull… I have all these shots (shows a photo of some of the dead whom I dug up – ed.)”.
