Annual inflation in Ukraine exceeds 16%

The biggest factor was the rise in food prices.

Rising consumer prices in Ukraine in April, year on year, reached 16.4%. The biggest impact on the index was on food prices. This was reported by the State Statistics Service.

On a monthly basis, inflation was 3.1%. Core inflation, which does not take into account short-term price fluctuations, was 3% in April from April to March, and 8.1% from the beginning of the year. During the month, prices for food and non-alcoholic beverages increased by 4.2%. Rice, fruits and grain products rose in price more (by 18.2–12.5%). Prices for pasta, vegetables, fish, soft drinks, and oil increased by 8.6–3.1%. , oil. Eggs fell in price by 28.4%.

Prices for alcoholic beverages and tobacco products increased by 4.8%, mainly due to higher alcohol prices. Medicines rose in price by 4.6% in April.

The 2.1% increase in transport prices was mainly due to a 6.0% increase in bicycle prices and a 3% increase in rail and road passenger transport. , 1% and 2.7% respectively.

Recall that in February in < strong> Eurozone consumer prices rose by 5.9% compared to the same period in 2021, and March growth was 7.4%. This is a record since the introduction of the single European currency in 1999.
