Abramovich officially sold Chelsea to American investors

The Russian no longer owns London's Chelsea.

Russian billionaire Roman Abramovich sold football Chelsea Club , according to a document published on the website of the British government.

The deal amounted to 4.25 billion pounds (5 billion euros), and the new owner of the club was a consortium of American investors led by Todd Beli.

It will be recalled that Roman Abramovich came under sanctions after the Russian invasion of Ukraine and was forced to sell the London club. At the same time, the businessman will not benefit from the deal – this was the main condition for the sale of the club. Chelsea bought about 2.5 billion pounds, all of which will be transferred to a frozen bank account and then donated to charity.

The Russian billionaire has owned the club since July 2, 2003. According to data for 2022, “Chelsea” ranks eighth in the list of clubs with the highest incomes. During this period, “Chelsea” has repeatedly won the English Championship and the Champions League.

Earlier it was reported that that Chelsea have been banned from transfers due to sanctions against Abramovich .
