A record low number of Ukrainians said they could afford a vacation this year

38 percent of Ukrainians surveyed do not go on vacation for a simple reason – because they do not have a job. And some Ukrainians have the right to deprive their employers of leave during the war.

In 2022, a record low number of Ukrainians are planning a vacation. This was reported by Segodnya with reference to a poll on social networks.

According to the poll, hot events in the country affect the ability to plan a vacation and the desire to relax. At the same time, the survey was conducted by one of the personnel portals of Ukraine, which may mean a somewhat specific contingent that provided answers to questions.

Yes, a record low number of Ukrainian workers are planning a vacation this summer – only 11% of respondents. Only 1% of them intend to go on vacation abroad.

Among those who want to go abroad, they choose mostly Turkey and Egypt. But most of those who want to rest, prefer domestic tourism. Usually people want to go to the Ukrainian mountains or other regions of the country.

But the rest do not plan or can not rest. The poll showed the following results:

  • 47% of respondents believe that during the war, rest and joy are not appropriate at all;
  • 23% respondents said they lost their jobs due to the war, so there is neither the opportunity nor the desire to rest;
  • 6% of workers are on forced unpaid leave;
  • 9% of respondents seek refuge from the war abroad, they also do not have time to rest.

At the same time during martial law the employer has the right to refuse leave . This can happen when a person is involved in work on critical infrastructure. At the same time, this rule does not apply to maternity leave and childcare leave.

In the Law of Ukraine “On the organization of labor relations in martial law” “from 15.03.2022 № 2136-IX it is stated that during martial law annual paid leave is granted to employees for a period of 24 calendar days. If the terms of the employment contract provided for more days of leave, the provisions of these provisions during martial law may be terminated.

Unlimited leave can be granted without pay at the request of the employee. But the employer has no right to ask a person to go on such leave.

And if due to hostilities the company can not function, the employer must make a simple. And in this case, if he forces employees to go on leave without pay, it will be considered a violation of labor rights of employees.
