A quadrilateral meeting on grain export from Ukraine will be held in Turkey – Ministry of Foreign Affairs

The negotiations will be held under the auspices of the UN.

On Wednesday, July 13, in the city of Istanbul a quadrilateral meeting with the participation of experts from Ukraine, Turkey, Russia and the UN is planned. The parties are going to discuss the functioning of sea corridors for the transportation of Ukrainian grain. This was reported by the spokesman of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Oleg Nikolenko, in a comment to Suspilno.

“Ukraine advocates that the issue of unblocking Ukrainian grain be resolved under the auspices of the UN. In this context, we are grateful to Secretary General António Guterres for his active efforts to find a solution , which will guarantee the security of the southern regions of our country,” said Nikolenko.

He emphasized that the issue of security will remain key in the position of the Ukrainian side.

Turkish Defense Minister Hulusi Akar also announced the organization of the quadrilateral meeting in Istanbul. However, according to his information, the military delegations of Ukraine, Turkey and the Russian Federation, as well as representatives of the UN, should take part in the negotiations.

It was previously reported that Ukraine works daily on the issue of unblocking grain exports, but wants third-party security guarantees. This was announced by President Volodymyr Zelenskyi.

According to him, negotiations regarding the export of grain are being conducted directly with UN Secretary General António Guterres and Turkey. Today, Ukraine can export 22 million tons of barley, wheat and corn.
