A new CCU judge will be sworn in this week to replace Tupytsky

The term of office of the scandalous CCU judge Oleksandr Tupytskyi has expired.

Oksana Hryshchuk, Professor of the Department of Theory and Philosophy of Law, Faculty of Law, Ivan Franko National University of Lviv, will be sworn in during a special sitting of the Constitutional Court on May 19, Interfax-Ukraine reports.

< p> “A special sitting of the Constitutional Court is scheduled for May 19. A solemn swearing-in ceremony of the newly appointed judge of the Constitutional Court Oksana Hryshchuk will take place,” the Constitutional Court said. > The court explained that Gryshchuk will take the place of Alexander Tupitsky, whose term expired on May 15. Serhiy Holovaty, Deputy Chairman of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine, continues to perform the duties of the Chairman of the Constitutional Court.

In October 2020, the Constitutional Court chaired by Oleksandr Tupytsky declared two items of anti-corruption legislation unconstitutional, which blocked open access to electronic declarations < span>, and NABU was to close 110 criminal cases against officials and deputies for false declarations.

In December 2020 Zelensky signed a decree removing Tupytsky from office for two months. The formal basis for the decree was the submission of the Office of the Prosecutor General to remove Tupytsky.

In March 2021, Zelensky repealed Viktor Yanukovych's decree of May 14, 2013 appointing Tupytsky is a judge of the Constitutional Court. On July 14, the Supreme Court declared Zelensky's decree illegal , and five days later the DBR opened a case against Supreme Court judges who overturned Zelensky's decree against Tupytsky.
