A film about Mariupol will be shown at the festival in Prague

In total, three Ukrainian films were included in the festival program.

Film by Ukrainian director Villen Novak “Why am I alive “, which tells about Mariupol, will be shown at the Prague International Film Awards in the Czech Republic. The festival program also includes two more Ukrainian films, NV reports.

It is noted that the film “Why I'm Alive” has been selected for the main selection of the festival, which will take place on April 21-24.

The action of the film takes place in Mariupol in 1940 and is based on real events. The main characters Frosya and Lyonchyk dream of getting married, but this is hindered by the fact that Frosya is Ukrainian and Lyonchyk is Jewish. With the beginning of the war, Lenchik goes to war, and pregnant Frosya finds herself in the occupation. The city is experiencing occupation, denunciations, collaborationism, looting, fascist terror and the execution of Jews. The main roles in the film were played by Viktor Zhdanov, Roland Mishko, Anastasia Markov, Irina Melnyk, Olga Radchuk and others.

The official selection of the festival includes two more Ukrainian films: “Slightly Open Doors “Directed by Khachaturian Vasilyan and the short film” Homo Deus: Divine Man “by Yulia Deglina. “) Was selected for the competition program of the Cannes Film Festival . The world premiere of the film will take place in the “Special View” section of the official selection of the film review.
